16 Unwritten Clauses of the Human Contract - “ Is It? ”
Sunday Morning will dawn in a couple of hours or so and if you’re sitting here with your coffee feeling a strange, quiet hollowness despite your 'productivity,' is it likely because you’re violating a cosmic contract you didn't even know you signed?
Lets find out.
We’ve spent the first three weeks of 2026 frantically trying to optimize versions of ourselves that don't actually exist, leaving us as ghosts in our own machines. As a Humanitarian Listener, I’ve stood in enough silent corners of the world to notice the patterns we all try to hide, the 'unwritten clauses' of being alive that no one tells us about until it’s almost too late.
These 16 caveats aren't just 'hacks' or clever quotes from the past; they are the architectural anchors for those of us who are tired of the performance and ready to finally become the sanctuary our own souls have been searching for. Let’s stop the ever-going act of routinization for a moment and look at the map we’ve been ignoring."
1. Be silent when you feel your words will hurt others.
2. Be patient when others hurt you.
3. Be thoughtful for other people’s woes.
4. Go deaf when scandal flows.
5. Be courageous when misfortune falls.
6. Be prompt when stern duty calls.
7. Contentment is being grateful for what we have; knowing that at this moment, all we have is all we need.
8. Peace comes when the power of love overcomes the love of power. That is when, the world will know peace.
9. Sometimes when we lose our way, we find ourselves.
10. No great man has lived in vain. The history of the world is but the biography of great men.
11. The fruits of triumph are borne out of the seeds of misery and sorrow. They taste better and sweeter than any ordinary fruit acquired with no struggle.
12. He who learns but does not think is lost. He who thinks but does not learn is in great danger (Confucius)
13. A single conversation with a wise man is better than 10 years of study.
14. Faith is invisible but has the power to connect us to what we want.
15. We should believe in a moral order. Every good act brings a reward and every evil act, retribution. No matter what we do with mind or body, we cannot escape the moral law.
16. Truth’s nearest equivalent is honesty, but its substantial meaning is unequivocable.
Well ultimately, these 16 caveats are not a final verdict, but a living map—a starting point for the architecture we must build ourselves in a world determined to keep us homeless. The contract of being human is still being written, and right now, the pen is in your hand. If you are tired of paying the hidden tax of an unexamined life and are ready to stop performing and start building a true sanctuary of the soul, then this is where the real work begins.
The door is open, the contract is on the table, and the silence is waiting for your answer... are you ready to sign your own name?
