She Was Releasing the Weight that Stones Could Never Carry.
But Why ? _____________________________
There was a cliff that overlooked the harbor. At its edge stood an old bench, worn soft by rain and mooss.
Every early evening, unfailingly, a woman climbed that cliff. She was frail, her face a map of exile and illness.
The country she loved had turned against her. She had little left, except this arduous ritual (?)
She sat, staring into the horizon until the sun dissolved into the sea. Before leaving, she would bent slowly, pick up a pebble, sometimes tiny, sometimes heavy, and cast it into the waters.
A Group of Teenagers, who often reveled much below the cliff, often watched her, or maybe the sight of this unique activity with some weird wonderment, day after day.
Until one evening, a curious 14 year old girl, braver than the rest, climbed up.
“Tante,” she called and asked, “Why do you always throw stones into the Sea?”
For a long while, she said nothing, while the girl sat beside her for an answer.
Then, a faint smile crossed her weathered face.
“My Dear,” she whispered, “these are not stones. Each night, I throw away a piece of self-pity. It’s the only way I know to keep living.”
The 14 Year old could’t grasp the context, so she nodded and left.
But as years passed and the vagaries of Life took the 14 year old (who was now 41) to the same cliff; her crumbling mind unexpectedly flashed the memories of the old woman and the significance of her Words.

We all carry pocket full of pebbles—grievances, regrets, sharp edges of what life throws at us.
If we hold onto them, they weigh us down.
If we cast or throw them off, one by one, patiently, deliberately—we can create space for something else to enter - Sunshine, Courage, Joy, Relief.
Self-pity is the heaviest stone of all. And no wisdom, no freedom, no new beginnings is possible until it’s thrown into the depth of the sea.
How about A Question for You?
What are the few pebbles you’ve still been carrying for far too long?
Would you be ready to let go of them ?
(Do write your valuable comments. You never know who might need your courage as a mirror for their own.)
Beautiful post with wisdom and exquisite poetic touch🌟 Self pity can be heavy, and if you let it stay too long you become a victim. It will drain you, and it will not help you. Unfortunateley you often don’t realize this yourself. It’s you against the whole world. So let all the pebbles go into the sea or whereever and be FREE🌟💟
